Symptoms

The app crashes.

I have a blank screen but nothing is happening

The app does not move automatically to the next chapter

Possible Causes

Here are a few reasons that may cause this:

— A connection error

— A lack of storage space

— A temporary audio/text glitch

Resolution

— Let's confirm the following:

1. You have the most recent Bible.is release;

2. Your Android is not rooted;

3. Your operating system is up to date;

4. Your device has plenty of storage space;

5. Your device is connected via a good Wi-Fi connection (you may need to refresh your connection by disabling and re-enabling it)

 — If that is all good, the first suggestion would be a Force Close of the app:

1. Go to the main phone menu and tap your menu button
2. Select "Settings" and then "Applications"
3. Select "Manage Applications" and select "Bible.is"
4. Select "Force Close" and then re-open the Bible.is application.

— If this doesn't work, try the following:
1. Turn off your phone
2. Pull the battery out to, disconnecting it
3. Wait for a bit
4. Re-connect and power phone back up.

— If that did not resolve the issue, let's reset the app with the Clear Data option (notice this will delete any chapters you previously downloaded). Here are the instructions to do that:
1. Go to the main phone menu and tap your menu button
2. Select "Settings" and then "Applications"
3. Select "Manage Applications" and select "Bible.is"
4. Select "Clear data" and then re-open the Bible.is application.

If you're usually using only a 3G connection or frequently switching between 3G and Wi-Fi, it is recommended to download the audio and text for offline access so that you avoid the connection fluctuation. Here's how you could do that:

  1. After you start the app on a Wi-Fi connection, tap the menu button on your Android;
  2. Tap More in the bottom right, Downloads, then Download More Bibles;
  3. Select the language you want to download, then the Version;
  4. In the Download screen, tap Text, then download (tapping the green arrow) the Old Testament and/or the New Testament.
  5. In the Download screen, tap Audio, then download (tapping the green arrow) the chapters you want. (Unfortunately, due to the huge size of the audio, the current release allows you download by chapters and our development team is working to enhance this feature).
  6. After you finish, tap Done at the top left of the Download screen.
  7. Now you should be able to access the audio and text of your preferred Bible version without internet connection.

Note: It is recommended to wait until each chapter download completes and the green arrow turns into gray.

   To access your downloads:

The way the offline audio works is that it is stored on your device within the app. When you do not have internet access any chapter (s) that you've downloaded will now be accessible and a play arrow will display. (Unlike before when no play button displays). Simply go to the chapter and book you would like to read/listen to and utilize from within the app.
Kindly notice that for the ESV translation, the text is already bundled with initial download of the app. That means for any given chapter, you only need to do one download (tap the green arrow). With the other versions and languages, you will need to download the text then download the audio. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Please do not hesitate to contact our Bible.is support team should you need further assistance.
